Simon looking out from top of tipi

Simon

Buffalo Founder

I started Buffalo in 2014 after discovering Tentipi tipis and quickly realized that a rental business was the perfect fit for my ambitions and the way I like to work. I was right. I enjoy hands-on, creative work—being outdoors, working in a team, and adapting to the seasons.

Before Buffalo, I hadn’t worked in events, but my experience in management, construction, and brand management gave me the skills to build a business that values design, organisation, and getting things done properly. I’m involved in all aspects of the business, but nothing beats a full day on-site. The scale of what we construct in a day is hugely satisfying, and handing over the finished setup to an excited customer is always rewarding.

Tom

Team Leader

Tom has been with us from the very beginning and has built hundreds of weddings and events. His knowledge of how tipis go together is remarkable and his considered approach and brilliant sense of humour keeps us all ticking. He’s the team leader and on-site he’s the bossman.

When he’s not building tents, you’ll find Tom in the workshop designing and building a lot of the furniture and lighting pieces that you see in our catalogue. Like me, he’s a farmers son and can be found in the mountains in the off-season. Unlike me, he still plays rugby.

Matt

Event Planner

Manning the inbox and answering your calls, Matt is often the first person you’ll meet when you get in touch. He’s an event planner most of the time and when he’s not in the office he’s on site getting stuck in.

In his first life, Matt worked in London as a financial spread trader, but he escaped the city in 2012, headed west and met his wife Megan. That’s how we found him- Megan enquired about hiring tipis in 2016 and after providing tipis for their wedding we persuaded Matt to join our growing squad.

Will

Senior Crew

Will joined us in 2023 and immediately stood out for one simple reason, he’s the only person we’ve ever employed who’d already done this job full-time elsewhere. He’s also the youngest in the crew.

Will has a proper interest in vehicles, engines, and anything with wheels, which makes him very popular whenever something needs towing or reversing. When he’s not on site he’s usually talking about cars or Sheffield United.

Jordan

Senior Crew

Jordan joined us in spring 2023 after deciding life as a chef wasn’t very fun. He’s also been a plumber, which means he brings a rare mix of practical problem-solving and creative thinking to site.

When he’s not building tents, Jordan loves camping, hiking and still enjoys his food. He also enjoys a good game of squash.
